Newsletter from Robert Davenport (12/21/2011)

Following is a recap of events we participated in last year, 2011 and our plans for this year 2012.

The first event was in Jan 2011, collecting the dues for the newsletter and it was very successful. Please NOTE!! - Even though we had to increase our dues from $10 to $15, quite a few only sent $10.00. Please send the $15.00.

Next we had our Annual Blue Willow Luncheon in Social Circle. This lunch was held on Thursday Apill 21st with 121 classmates attending. This year the luncheon will be held at 1:30 PM on Tue April 3rd. The cost is the same as last year, $15.00 each which includes the tip and taxes. If you like you can include your newsletter dues with your Blue Willow luncheon. On a small piece of paper put your names, school and year graduated. Also put how much goes for dues and the $15 each for the B/W lunch. The deadline for reserving is Sat March 24th and remember if you reserve amd have to cancel and notify me by Sat March 31st. A full refund will be made to you. In May over Memorial Day weekend we had the combined 60th reunion for the brown and Sylvan Hills high schools, class of 51. We had 80 plus attend this noon luncheon at the Airport Crowne Plaza Hotel. For some out of towners and a few in-towners, Several couples went to Harolds BBQ on friday night for dinner. After the luncheon on Sat and visiting in the hospitality room, 30 classmates had dinner at Pilgreens at Lake Dow in McDonough, GA. It was good but not like the old Pilgreens on Lee Street.

This year the 52 Brown/Sylvan classes will have a similar reunion, details on page 13 & 14.

The Fall Event was our catered BBQ at the mountain cabin of Tommy Clyatt in Helen. The BBQ was as good as ever and we had 140 attend. Although this has been an every other year event, Tommy has been thinking about having it next year, 2012, but it's just too early to commit. We'll keep you posted.

The monthly boys breakfast continues at 9 AM the 2nd Wed of each month at the OK Cafe. The Sylvan Hills and Brown HS Classes of the 50's meet the 3rd Wednesday every 90 days at the DT Varsity at 1 PM. The months are Jan - Apr - Jul - Oct. Brown HS has classmates meeet at the DT Varsity at 11:30 the first Wed of each month. Finally the Annual Picnic for all BHS Classes from 48 to the late 60's was held at Sweetwater Creek State Park on Sat Oct 1st with 240 attending. The Picnic for 2012 will be held on Sat Oct 6, 2012.

My name is Lee Field I am the son of Suzanne Edmondson Field she graduated from Brown High. She was relating a story to me the other day about how a Coach who was in the Army Reserve managed to get the football team to practice on a Military base or something like that. Anyway I am an amateur hope to be professional screenwriter and artist and thought it would make a wonderful screenplay or movie. Any info you can forward would be great. Thanks again

Capitol View Presbyterian Church

I am looking for classmates who were members of Capitol View Presbyterian Church in the years 1948-1963. I want to interview them for a video presentation I am preparing on my book "Prayer Works." Will appreciate your help in sending out the message.

Thanks.
